Learning & Development Manager

Our client is recognised as one of the UK s leading law firms and they are currently seeking an experienced Learning & Development Manager for a 6-month fixed term contract. The L&D/Projects Manager is responsible for the management, delivery and co-ordination of the Learning and Development programmes, and initiatives at the firm. They also have a responsibility for Trainee Lawyer recruitment and development, working closely with the Training Principal and the HR Coordinator to deliver this.
Key Responsibilities:-
Working closely with the HR Coordinator and the Training Principal, manage the annual trainee lawyer recruitment programme encompassing attraction, recruitment, vacation schemes and the training contracts offer process. Act as a key point of contact for the trainees throughout their training contracts. This will include arranging and coordinating the trainee induction programme, holding regular catch ups with the trainees, organising seat moves, secondments, training and monitoring performance. Provide advice and support to the firm and others as needed on the various routes to becoming a qualified lawyer. Manage the relationships with the trainees training providers and other suppliers (College of Law etc) Monitor and manage the trainee budget and all associated costs. Co-ordinate and implement the annual career review cycle for all staff. This will include the production, upkeep and delivery of all support and training materials, and the management of the online career review system. Assist as needed with annual promotions processes, succession planning and the development and implementation of career pathways. Conduct bi-annual training needs analysis from the career review outputs and propose effective training solutions for both support staff and lawyers. Act as the main point of contact for the identification and subsequent delivery of all learning development, and training solutions as required across the firm. Conduct individual training needs assessments as needed identifying appropriate solutions and then implementing these. Oversee annual calendar of L&D and D&I events, forums, and any related training. This will involve firm wide communications, minute-taking, diary management etc. Help to propose and develop wellbeing and D&I related initiatives. Run staff surveys collate and report on the information and feedback received; assist with the identification, delivery, and implementation of any resulting actions / initiatives. Provide co-ordination and assistance with the development of Knowledge Management across the firm. The ideal candidate will have previous HR & L&D experience gained within the legal sector along with a comprehensive understanding of career review systems and processes. You must have a full understanding of routes to legal qualification and career pathways for Trainee lawyers as well as graduate recruitment experience. You will be commercially astute and a good understanding of the practical application of HR.
