Learning Manager / Librarian - Thatcham

We are currently looking for a Learning Centre Manager to work for a well-respected Charity based in the Thatcham area. This is an excellent opportunity for an outgoing and articulate candidate to manage a multifunctional space and build solid working relationship with employees and the community of learners. This role would be working full time for 40 weeks a year. 

Responsibilities:

• Manage the day to day running of the multifunctional centre
• Advise on strategy for learning resource provision and implementation 
• Provide a warm welcome to visitors to the centre
• Develop effective working relationships with all members of the academic staff. 
• Liaise with writers, agents, bookshops and publishers to build a successful programme of author visits
• Liaise with local schools and other organisations, as part of an outreach programme
• To ensure the centre contributes to, and is part of, all whole-school thematic curriculum events.
• Assisting with budgets, events and projects on a local, regional or national basis
• Provide both physical and online learning resources
• Manage the library management system and maintain effective cataloguing systems to support library service delivery
• Write and update reports and data to the Heads of Department as required

Requirements:

• Proven experience working with young people (teacher, mentor, youth support etc.)
• Librarian background a key advantage
• Able to work to deadline and have great organisational skills
• Ability to maintain accurate and up to date knowledge
• Proven ability to manage change
• Ability to maximise the efficiency of resources available, within agreed budgetary limits
• Approachable and outgoing personality with excellent customer focus skills
• Experience of project management
