The Academy

Ormiston Denes is a thriving and ambitious academy, rapidly moving towards Ofsted ‘good’. Our school values of aspiration, integrity and respect make our academy a welcoming and rewarding place to work. We now have a superb opportunity for a talented individual to further our inclusive approaches and shape our new Bridge provision, ensuring students receive effective targeted support to regulate behaviour and reintegrate into the main academy.

The Bridge

The Bridge is a new internal Pupil Support Unit which will be piloted with students at Key Stage 3 who need additional and intensive support to improve their behaviour and attitude towards learning so that they can successfully be reintegrated into the main school. Lessons and interventions will be run by The Bridge staff and staff from within the main school to ensure every child receives the provision they deserve.

The role

Required to start in the Summer Term, we are seeking to appoint a Level 3 Learning Support Assistant for The Bridge. You will be responsible for supporting with the sourcing, planning, delivering and/or coordinating the delivery of bespoke education packages for students identified as in need of timetable modifications, as well as teaching a percentage of timetable lessons as agreed with SLT.

You will be required to support the alternative provision in The Bridge, working closely with The Bridge Manager, Senior Vice Principal and Assistant Principal to generate a tailored offer to meet individual needs.

You will work collaboratively with the Inclusion, Safeguarding, Attendance and Pastoral Teams to ensure appropriate challenge and support for all students within The Bridge.

This is an interesting, varied and rewarding role that includes working closely with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure the identified cohort of students achieve the best possible academic, vocational, and personal outcomes including formal qualifications, attendance and post-16 pathways.

Please see the below job description for further information on this role.

You will:

  • be a committed and motivated individual who wants to make a difference to the education of students who would benefit from alternative provision
  • have excellent interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Have the ability to work collaboratively with senior management, staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure the best possible support for students
  • be well-motivated and approachable with a positive attitude
  • have excellent organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise their workload
  • have sound working knowledge of the behaviour pathways and strong behaviour management skills
  • be flexible in your approach to the requirements of the post.

We offer:

  • an opportunity to join an up and coming, supportive department at an academy with a strong ethos of teamwork and support, where staff are committed to raising attainment
  • development for staff through nationally recognised training courses
  • access to a range of resources and opportunities through our academy trust
  • guidance, advice, and support from the senior leadership team who all want to make a positive difference to the education of all students at Ormiston Denes.

Closing date: 9am, 27 March 2024.

The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Online searches may be completed as a part of due diligence checks for candidates who are shortlisted for interview. Any offer of employment will be subject to receipt of two suitable references and a successful application for an enhanced disclosure from the DBS.
