Empowering Learning is dedicated to providing high-quality educational support to students with diverse needs. We are currently seeking experienced Teaching Assistants to join our team in Hillingdon and Slough, supporting students with challenging behavior in SEMH schools.
Job Description:
We are seeking experienced Teaching Assistants to work with students aged 7-11 who have social and emotional mental health needs, including conditions such as ADHD, SEMH, ASD, and complex needs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting young learners with these challenges and possess excellent behavior management skills.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with classroom teachers to support the learning and development of students with challenging behavior.
- Empathize with the trauma experienced by students, understanding the root causes of their behavior.
- Implement strategies to manage challenging behavior effectively.
- Provide one-on-one support to students as needed.
- Contribute to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with challenging teenagers, ideally in a school setting.
- Experience in youth work, youth support work, or with young offenders is desirable.
- Excellent understanding of safeguarding procedures.
- Experience with special educational needs (SEN) is desirable.
- Ability to empathize with students and provide appropriate support.
- Strong behavior management skills.
