Learning Support Tutor - Metalwork, Woodwork and Gardening

Location: Preston, Hull, HU12 1DN
Salary: £12.50 per hour
Contract: 2 positions, 30 hours per week, must be willing to work some weekends when required

We are Matthew’s Enterprise Trust, a charity as part of the Avocet Trust Group and we are recruiting.

We provide a day service to promote life and employment skills for vulnerable adults through developing self-esteem and confidence through educational and training development.

We have six and a half acres of land on the Preston site with a large greenhouse and animal enclosures where everyone can join in the fun to help grow their own food, look after the animals, carpentry, rural crafts and metal working skills!

We offer our pupils with ASDAN certification and accreditation within the educational classes and eventually we aim to have links with our local colleges!

We are currently recruiting for two Learning Support Tutor’s, one with experience in woodwork and another with experience in metalwork.

You will be responsible for the following:

• Developing a comprehensive Training programme to enhance the skills of students in relationship to Metalwork, Woodwork and Gardening.
• Completing maintenance repair work with students across the farm.
• Source meaningful and fulfilling activities for students.
• Encourage students to engage in activities in order to create items.
• Be able to risk assess and plan all activities ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation.
• Plan daily, weekly and monthly activities providing a structured learning experience for the students.
• Ensure that there is a selection of suitable activity materials in order to complete student projects.
• Monitoring cash expenditure and developing quality items for sale.

In order to be successful in this role you should have:

• A full, clean driving license with the ability to drive a mini bus.
• Teaching, coaching, development experience or experience in working with supporting adults with Learning Disabilities.
• Experience in Metalwork, Woodwork and / or Gardening.
