Job description

This is an opportunity to join a dynamic eLearning Team, playing a key role in increasing the use of eLearning in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

As a Learning Technologist, you will be part of an established eLearning team that works under the direction of the eLearning Manager to deliver a service that supports academic and administrative staff in the nine departments in FSE to meet the Facultys strategic priorities for eLearning.

You will report to the eLearning Manager, and work collaboratively across the team and with colleagues from related services to provide advice and support for the use of digital tools used to support teaching and learning.

You will work in partnership with academic and administrative staff in the development and delivery of electronically delivered, creative materials that support and enhance learning activities delivered via the Universitys virtual learning environment.

You will have a degree or equivalent professional experience, and significant experience of using a virtual learning environment for the development and delivery of eLearning materials, including knowledge of learning design.

You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with experience of a range of software applications (e.g. virtual learning environments; screen casts; media rich interactive applications; video conferencing; online assessment; web-based technologies).

You will be able to scope and successfully manage complex projects that require coordination of multiple factors and relationships, e.g. multiple project team members, or projects with diverse stakeholders.

In addition to having strong technical skills, you will be willing to make presentations to disseminate good practice, and engage colleagues in discussion about how eLearning can make a positive contribution to their teaching and the student experience.

The post will be mainly based in the Engineering Building, although it will involve visiting the departments within the Faculty, which are located in a number of different buildings across the University campus.

What you will get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers
