Job description

BMet (Birmingham Metropolitan College) is on an exciting journey! Be a part of our students' experience and make a difference.

BMet is a great organisation, home to thousands of bright and enthusiastic students and many talented and experienced staff. We are passionate about providing the qualifications and training that local employers and communities need. Our goal is to prepare all of our students for the world of work, both now and in years to come.

We are looking to appoint a Lecturer in Foundation Learning to join our team based at our James Watt College, working 21 Hours Per Week, Monday - Wednesday.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and flexible lecturer to deliver and assess on full time programmes for 16-19 year olds.

You will deliver a variety of Vocational Studies projects, alongside Functional Skills English and/or Maths, at entry level, to young people, some of which will have a special educational need. You will also be personal tutor to students as part of their study programme, and will be responsible for their personal development, behaviour and welfare.

Our teachers are expected to use innovative methods of delivery and carry out initial assessment to establish starting points and track learners’ progress, recording this effectively, and liaising with colleagues and college management to ensure all learners progress and achieve.

Foundation Learning includes provision for those who are studying at entry or Level 1 and learners may have a learning disability and/or have emotional, social and behavioural difficulties.

See Role Profile for further details.

As an employer we offer a wide range of career paths. Working at BMet provides a real opportunity for you to make a difference to the communities we serve, as well as giving you the environment to develop your career in an exciting and dynamic organisation.

We know that our diversity is a source of strength and we warmly welcome people from all backgrounds, particularly encouraging applications from people who are currently under-represented at college.

BMet is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our roles are subject to vetting checks conducted by Security Watchdog.

If you want to join our team and you have the qualifications, experience and competencies needed for the role please apply.

Closing date for applications: 24/03/2024
