Role responsibilities: these will involve facilitating learning across different modes, including classroom, web-based media and in clinical settings. There is an expectation of pastoral support for students, academic assessment and the supervision of student projects. You may also be required to undertake module leadership/specific project leadership as appropriate.

Applicants: Need to be a NMC Registered Nurse in Adult Nursing. You will be a graduate and have recent experience of dealing with student nurses either in a Higher Education Institution or in clinical practice. You will have demonstrable ability to work within a team and possess effective communications skills. A post-graduate qualification in a relevant area is desirable. A teaching qualification or willingness to undertake one will be essential.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Lecturer in Adult Nursing

Job Purpose:
  • To teach and support students by adopting a learner-centred approach, delivering a first-class student experience.
  • To lead and undertake curriculum development, professional practice, enterprise activity, research and other forms of scholarly activity as outlined within the Bucks Academic Framework
  • To be a team-player and contribute to the wider work of the School and wider University.
  • Practice an inclusive approach and support building an inclusive university community where people can be themselves

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:
Education:
  • Undertake research-informed teaching in the subject discipline managing all aspects of curriculum delivery and the associated student experience to the highest standards in accordance with the University’s requirements and the TEF.
  • Undertake associated activities in connection with the courses taught including personal tutoring; student recruitment; assessment, review and evaluation.
  • Achieve student satisfaction – demonstrating a commitment to ‘customer focus’ and contributing to the achievement of strong NSS results.
  • Demonstrate inclusive practice in curriculum design and delivery. Work to eliminate attainment gaps.
  • Contribute to Open Days, school, college and partnership links and the marketing and promotional work of the Department and/or School.
  • Support students in supervising placements, learning in practice, internships and work-related activities.
  • Deliver pastoral care to, and project supervision of, students.
  • Plan and deliver the curriculum using appropriate media, including the use of Digital technologies.
  • Provide effective feedback, support and guidance to students, which promotes improvement of performance.
  • Engage in professional development activities (e.g., CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to teaching, learning and assessment.

Research and Professional Practice:
  • Conduct research and scholarly activity of relevance to the lecturing role and/or area of professional practice and aligns own research with their teaching and learning
  • Engage with relevant business and professional networks to promote teaching and learning and research in a professional context.
  • Engage in professional development activities (e.g. CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to research, enterprise and/or the relevant profession.
  • Maintain and foster the high reputation of the University in practice partner settings.
  • Contribute to the REF and KEF and to internal and external research and enterprise strategies, as applicable.

Leadership and Management:
  • Demonstrate involvement in the support and development of Graduate Teaching Associates, contributing to the recruitment and mentoring of new colleagues, as appropriate.
  • Adhere to and promote the BNU Values and advance Equality Diversity and Inclusivity for students and colleagues.

Liaison and Networking:
  • Participate in relevant internal and external networks
  • Promote and market the work of the University in the subject area.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of education quality and thinking in the field by being involved in quality assurance, external decision-making bodies, groups and subject associations.
