Lecturer in Esports

Permanent, Full Time 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary: £27,347 - £38,101 per annum (Dependant on skills, qualifications & experience) (Academic Grade 4 -13)

About the role

Wiltshire College & University Centre has an exciting opportunity for an Esports lecturer to develop and deliver new Level 2 & Level 3 Esports provisions. These courses will run at the organisation's new #TechTrowbridge centre, backed by a £1.2 million investment, designed to offer state-of-the-art teaching spaces, alongside a 150-seater esports arena and event space.

This role offers a rare opportunity to join the organisation prior to beginning delivery of the provision, allowing candidates time to plan and develop a curriculum and course identity, as well as promote the course actively prior to first teaching in September 2024

In this role you will be required to design and develop a comprehensive curriculum for Level 2 and Level 3 Esports study programmes. Focusing on key areas including, Esports broadcasting, social media for Esports, Esports events, video production, games design, ethical and current issues in Esports, shoutcasting, and producing an esports brand. You will also be expected to utilise the Esports arena and event space to provide hands-on experiences and real-world simulations for students alongside working with the wider team to arrange Esports events and competitions. Prior to delivery, you will also be working with our business development team to actively promote and recruit students for Esports courses and to establish a strong presence for the college within the esports community and industry.

The role also provides candidates with the opportunity to work with the wider Creative Media Production team to contribute towards the planning and delivery of a new HND in Game Development with planned first delivery in September 2024.

About you

The ideal candidate will have a PGCE or Certificate in Education and a relevant degree, you will also possess a knowledge of the Esports industry and current issues in the Esports sector relating to opportunities for learners. The college recognises that applicants will come from a variety of backgrounds and is open to applications form those with limited teaching experience/qualifications.
