Academic Education Pathway (AEP) 2-year fixed-term lecture post in Film Studies Job description Film Studies at King’s College London seeks to appoint a full-time fixed-contract (1.0 FTE, 2 year) AEP (Academic Education Pathway) Lecturer post. The successful candidate will convene undergraduate modules including: Cinema and Spectatorship, Film Festivals and Film Festival Studies, Documentary, and French New Wave. They would offer supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate level as well as serve Dept’s administrative role(s).  The successful applicant will be a well organised, enthusiastic and inspiring educator. They will be a collegial colleague, capable of working as part of a team, convening modules within the Film Studies department and contributing to the Department’s scholarship and culture. They will have excellent interpersonal communication skills and record and evidence of teaching. They should be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion issues in both education and research as well as interpersonal relationships and skills in general. Contract type This post will be offered on a 2-year fixed contract. This is a full-time post.  Key responsibilities Proactively contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education and supervision, including convening and examining modules. Inspire and foster students’ learning and personal development. Offer a student-centred approach to teaching and learning and be committed to equality diversity and inclusion in teaching and research through module design, interaction with students, feedback and academic procedures. Challenge thinking, foster debate and develop the ability of students to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking. Work collaboratively with colleagues and professional support teams within the Faculty and Cluster to enhance undergraduate and postgraduate education. Ensuring that the modules delivered, along with their undergraduate and postgraduate supervision, are managed, assessed and reviewed according to the published specifications and the College code of practice. Administrative Duties Play an active role in all aspects of programme management, including (but not limited to) marking and moderating, student support, and quality assurance. Undertake administrative roles in the Department as required by the Head of Cluster and the Head of the Film Studies Department. Engage in effective and professional communication with academic, technical and administrative colleagues in the College, Faculty and Cluster and beyond. The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post. Skills, knowledge, and experience PhD in Film and related areas of research is required. The successful candidate will have considerable and proven teaching and research experience in Film Studies—in terms of history, theory, criticism and curation. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of the contemporary film and media culture and a general knowledge of contemporary historical, critical and/or theoretical issues in Film and media studies. In particular, candidates should possess the ability to convene modules at both UG and PGT level, such as Cinema and Spectatorship, Film Festivals and Film Festival Studies, Documentary and French New Wave. Experience of teaching of teaching some of these modules in a higher education context is essential.  Closing date: 7 July 2024
