Job description

We are looking for an academic with established expertise in human-computer interaction to lead research, teach and help with the running of the department, with the ability and enthusiasm to create an engaging experience for our excellent students.    We’re particularly looking for individuals with research interests in a core area of Human-Computer Interaction such as immersive, virtual and augmented reality technology, wearable and ubiquitous computing, fabrication of functional devices, and social computing.    You will be part of the Human-Computer Interaction group within the Department of Computer Science, but your research interests may engage with the other groups on the Department: Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Visual Computing and Mathematical Foundations. Interviews will be held between 7th - 9th May 2024. About the Human-Computer interaction Group The Human-Computer Interaction group in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bath is one of the longest established and most successful HCI groups in the UK.      We have a long- standing interest in issues related to understanding human tasks and activities, including collaboration, how these are influenced by technologies and the associated implications for the design of future interactive systems to support peoples interests and activities.   The department hosts two centres for Doctoral Training, the Digital Economy Centre for the Analysis of Motion, Entertainment Research and Applications, and prestigious fellowships within the HCI group funded by both the Royal Society and the European Research Council.    As a department, we will offer you support and growth opportunities, including career mentoring, opportunities to progress, manage and lead, and access to our network of application partners including entertainment, sport, and healthcare technologies.
