Job description

The School of Nursing & Midwifery at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to recruit a talented Lecturer in Midwifery.

Established in 1991, Queen’s School of Nursing & Midwifery provides a range of innovative programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level, which prepare nurses, midwives and healthcare professionals for leadership roles in clinical care, teaching, management and research.

With approximately 3,500 students, the School has one of the most extensive portfolios of programmes of any nursing and midwifery school in the UK or Ireland.

The overall vision of the School is to provide a learning community committed to excellence in teaching, research, scholarship and practice that contributes to local and global efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of society.

Both the AC2 and AC3 Lecturer will undertake teaching in the area of Midwifery at undergraduate and postgraduate level, will develop or maintain a portfolio of appropriate scholarly activity and contribute to the School’s academic development and quality assurance processes.

The AC3 Lecturer will develop innovations in teaching, learning and quality assurance processes and contribute to School administration and outreach activity.

The salary scales for the posts are as follows:

  • AC2: £41,331 - £45,148 per annum
  • AC3: £46,497 - £57,141 per annum

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing / Midwifery or related healthcare subject.
  • Research experience and profile which complements the research priorities and strengths of the School with:
    • Significant research experience in a relevant healthcare field.
    • A publication record (or be about to publish) in peer reviewed journals /conference papers.
    • Experience of developing research methodologies, models, approaches and techniques. (AC3 only)
    • Experience of presentations at national and international meetings and conferences. (AC3 only)
  • Relevant teaching experience at University level commensurate with stage of career.
