Lecturer in Science (Physics and/or Chemistry)

£25 – £28 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to the salary, the successful candidate will be entitled to statutory holiday pay.

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Science specialising in Physics & Chemistry to join our team. As a Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and providing support to students in the field of Science. This is a full-time, permanent position based in an FE College in Norfolk.

Job Duties:

  • Deliver lectures and practical demonstrations in Level 2 Physics and/or Level 3 Chemistry to College students.
  • Design and develop engaging lesson plans and teaching materials.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in their learning journey.
  • Assess and evaluate student work, provide constructive feedback, and grade assignments and exams.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.
  • Stay updated with advancements in Physics and Chemistry and incorporate relevant industry trends and research into teaching approaches.
  • Supervise and mentor students during laboratory experiments and research projects.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and programme review activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience and contribute to the academic community.

Required Qualifications:

  • A degree in Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching Level 2 Physics and/or Level 3 Chemistry.
  • Strong knowledge of scientific principles and theories in Physics and Chemistry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively explain complex concepts and engage students in the learning process.
  • Organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in assessing student work.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and software.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in mentoring and supporting students.
  • Membership or affiliation with professional bodies in the field of Science.
