The School of Social and Political Sciences is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Sociology (Research and Teaching Track) within the School of Social and Political Sciences. The postholder will be based in the sociology subject area and will undertake research of international excellence and contribute to knowledge exchange activities relative to the discipline, contribute to learning and teaching on agreed programmes and undertake administration and service activities in line with the School/College’s strategic objectives. For appointment at Grade 8, the postholder will develop, lead and sustain research and scholarship of international standard and contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by delivering, organising and reviewing agreed teaching, assessment and administration processes to enhance learning and teaching in the School of Social and Political Sciences. The successful candidate will conduct research on as well as deliver teaching in introductory sociology and convene the undergraduate level 1 programme. We welcome applicants with expertise in the following areas sociology of everyday life, gender studies, race, racism and ethnicity or criminology. This could include but need not be limited to a focus on research methods. This post is full time (35 hrs per week). This post is to cover maternity leave for up to 12 months or until the substantive postholder returns.
