Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Genome Stability (Education and Research)

Hours: Full timeor part time hours considered up to a maximum of 1.0 FTE.

Salary:

Lecturer B: £45,585 to £54,395 per annum, pro rata if part time.

Senior Lecturer: £56,021 to £64,914 per annum, pro rata if part time.

The Genome Damage and Stability Centre is a department of the School of Life Sciences and a University of Sussex Centre of Excellence. We are looking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to contribute to the Centre’s mission of understanding and exploiting the molecular mechanisms underpinning genome maintenance.

Drawing together world-leading experts and creating a critical mass of knowledge, the Genome Damage and Stability Centre carries out research on the response of cells to DNA damage, genome instability and its relationship to human disease using a range of experimental systems. You will work in a collegiate and supportive Centre and complement our expertise in DNA replication, repair, and recombination, chromatin and chromosome dynamics, cell-cycle control, and translation into molecular diagnostics and novel treatments for rare genetic diseases and cancer.

We are well connected to the Sussex Drug Discovery Centre and the adjacent Brighton and Sussex Medical School. The School has excellent specialist technical hubs to support cell biology and molecular research including the Wolfson Centre for Biological Imaging, a new high-resolution Cryogenic Electron Microscope, and newly-enhanced X-ray Crystallography facilities.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of internationally successful research and will actively participate in teaching within the School of Life Sciences. A School-funded PhD studentship will be provided.
