Job description

The University of Worcester seeks to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated UK HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist to join the Department of Allied Health. The successful candidate will be committed to developing new Practice Education placement opportunities for Occupational Therapy students. You will join a friendly and supportive team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, radiographers and dieticians, who play key roles in the delivery and ongoing development of the courses in the Department. You will take on the role as a Lecturer (Teaching) or Senior Lecturer (Teaching) Practice Educator. You will liaise with registered professionals and external organisations to source and develop practice learning opportunities (placements) for students from a variety of educational settings within the region. You will provide module leadership for Practice Education modules across the BSc and MSc programmes and ensure that all Practice Education placement opportunities meet the requirements of the University’s work-based learning. You will need to be a brilliant communicator and have creative problem-solving skills. You will be actively involved in the placement development by providing preparation, support, and training to support students and practice educators and ensure quality learning in practice. The allied health staff work as a truly inter-professional team, teaching collaboratively across shared and profession-specific modules at all academic levels and you will be expected to share this philosophy. As a student-centred inclusive university, your role will include being a Personal and Academic Tutor, to support and encourage students to achieve their potential. You will also supervise students with their dissertations and participate in admissions and recruitment events where we work collaboratively with our colleagues in IMPACT, the university service-user group, who support teaching, recruitment, and curriculum development. You should also expect to play an active role within the School, which may include involvement in the delivery of CPD activity across a range of programmes. All staff are expected to engage in research and scholarly activity to enhance their own professional and academic development. Candidates are expected to highlight their areas of expertise in practice and how they intend to further this through scholarship and research.  Selection Process: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a formal panel interview, and asked to deliver a 10 minute presentation to the following brief: Outline the challenges and opportunities in developing outstanding practice learning placements. This will be followed by 5 minutes of questions relating to the presentation and a separate interview of approximately 40 minutes duration. Background The School of Allied Health and Community offers courses ranging from foundation degrees in various specialties in health and social care, to BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Dietetics and Social Work and Masters level study in a number of disciplines related to Health and Social Care. The School is also developing a range of new CPD provision. The wider College of Health, Life and Environmental Science has an exceptional reputation for excellence and the appointee will further develop the quality of our provision through strong collaboration with our practice partners.
