Job description

About the role: The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking to recruit academic staff to undertake high-quality research and teaching. Four Lecturer appointments will be made and the department is particularly interested in expertise in the following areas: Dynamics Robotics/mechatronics Manufacturing  Fluid power and control You will be expected to publish high-quality research papers, supervise postgraduate research students, and have the potential to obtain significant external research funding. You’ll conduct original and rigorous world-leading research of significance to the academic field and of potential use to engineering practitioners. Teaching is expected to support our well-established and highly successful MEng undergraduate degree programmes, as well as new MSc programmes under development. Teaching will be expected in one or more of the following areas: engineering dynamics, robotics/mechatronics engineering, control/autonomous systems, or manufacturing processes/technologies. As well as class teaching, you will fully participate in supervising students undertaking significant individual and group projects encompassing research or design activities. Typically for Lecturer grade applicants, this application would be aimed at the EPSRC New Investigator Award and it would be expected that the successful candidate submits this within the first year of the appointment. The document should be called ‘Research proposal’.
