Job description

Lecturer: £37,099 to £44,263 per annum Senior Lecturer: £45,585 to £54,395 per annum Our dynamic studio-based Architecture courses address in different ways the role of the contemporary architect in relation to physical and social contexts and environments, as well as to the specificity of the architectural discipline in relation to other forms of spatial and creative practice. This post will contribute to the future direction and curriculum of the Architecture programme – BA (Hons) Architecture and MArch Architecture – and will have a role in developing, leading and delivering innovative teaching. The role involves working closely with the Course Leader, Architecture and Director of Architecture and Interior Design and the to strengthen the critical approach to spatial and environmental design, and the collaborative links with other programmes and courses and with the profession and industry. We are seeking to appoint an inspiring and versatile individual to a full-time post in Architecture to contribute to teaching across courses in the programme and bring their professional and academic experience to the role. We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with recognised standing in the field of architectural design, digital design, urban and environmental studies and critical practice, as evidenced by a distinguished record of teaching and achievement including publications. ARB/RIBA Part 3 qualifications or international equivalent are desirable. You will be an advocate for responsible and inclusive practices with an ability to foster a climate of success through critical debate and co-creation of learning. You will be a champion for promoting diversity and equality in architecture, its practices and environments. As an inspiring and innovative designer and a supportive and inclusive teacher you will show an innovative and engaging pedagogical approach in both on-campus and digital teaching sessions. You will be able to demonstrate currency in your professional experience and/or research practice.  You will be a strong team player able to demonstrate excellent skills in leadership and in team-working, communication, organisation and management. The appointment will be made at either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level dependent on the successful candidate’s experience.
