Job description

About ARU:

ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields.  We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities.  Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.

About the Role:

You will be joining the successful Sport and Exercise Sciences team: home to one of the top ranked Sport and Exercise Sciences programmes in the UK (Guardian University League Tables 2020-23) and the Cambridge Centre for Sport and Exercise Sciences, located in the Faculty of Science and Engineering on our Cambridge campus. We are forward-looking and enthusiastic, with a vision that combines a strong civic commitment to our region with excellence in learning and teaching. We are seeking an experienced and motivated academic practitioner (Sport Therapist) to contribute to teaching and administration on our Sport & Exercise Therapy course.

The prospective candidate will deliver across the teaching and learning portfolio in Sport and Exercise Therapy. As an academic practitioner, you will maintain your professional practice and currency alongside your role at ARU. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the broad range of the School’s teaching portfolio, in particular our campus-based BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy course, professionally accredited by the Society of Sports Therapists.

You will have a degree or relevant professional qualification, and extensive post qualification CPD activities, and/or higher degree. You will also have a professional membership of, or accreditation from SST or similar (e.g. BASRaT) or eligibility to attain this. Specialist practice or clinical experience as a sports therapist or a closely related role is essential. As well as excellent communication skills, you'll have an enthusiastic and flexible approach and will demonstrate the ability and desire to contribute to the School’s knowledge exchange & consulting activities.
