We're seeking a motivated Legal Support Specialist with a focus on Special Educational Needs (SEN) Law to join a dynamic team committed to making a real difference. This role offers the unique opportunity to provide essential legal advice and support to families navigating the SEN system, ensuring children receive the education and care they deserve.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver expert legal advice and support on SEN law to families and caregivers, helping them to secure the necessary educational and care provisions for their children.
Participate actively in the management and support of advice centres across the UK, working alongside a dedicated team of volunteers.
Offer guidance through a helpline, managing complex inquiries with sensitivity and a deep understanding of SEN law.
Contribute to the preparation and representation in appeals and tribunals, advocating for the rights and needs of children with special educational needs.
Engage in mentoring and training sessions for volunteers, enhancing the quality and impact of advice provided to families.
Assist in expanding the reach and accessibility of advice centres, aiming to support more families across the country.
What We're Looking For:
A degree in law or equivalent, with a strong preference for candidates with experience or keen interest in SEN law.
Previous experience in a legal setting, ideally within education law, public rights law, or a related field.
Exceptional communication skills, capable of explaining complex legal matters in accessible language.
An empathetic, supportive approach, with the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
A commitment to continuous learning and development, with a passion for advocating on behalf of children and families.
