Baker Hughes has a new opportunity for a Legal Counsel – Labor and Employment Law, based near Aberdeen, Scotland, to provide labor, employment, and Employment litigation support to Baker Hughes’ operations in several countries across the European region. This role reports into the Vice President Global and Labor and Employment Law.

The role requires strong subject matter expertise in UK Labor and Employment Law, Labor and employee relations, and Employment litigation, as well as with providing Employment Law advice and counseling support to Baker Hughes HR and business segment leaders.
As a Legal Counsel - Labor & Employment Law, you will be responsible for:
- Providing pragmatic, risk-adjusted advice to Baker Hughes’ HR and business leaders on employment-law related matters in assigned global location areas of responsibility including hiring, performance management and discipline, terminations, grievances and other disputes, discrimination, harassment, reasonable adjustments, leaves of absence, incentive compensation, pension and benefits matters, works council and employee delegate related matters, employee investigations, restructuring plans and redundancies, and corporate mergers, acquisitions, and disposition of businesses activity
- Monitoring new laws, regulations and decisions affecting the substantive legal areas of coverage and provide strategic, preventative advice to HR business and cross functional team partners
- Drafting and negotiate employment-related agreements, including severance, separation, restrictive covenant, retention, and other employment-related agreements
- Managing outside counsel handling claims, dispute resolution, employment litigation and global projects, including management of budgets, directing litigation strategy, and reviewing relevant documents
- Supporting employment-related aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, including due diligence and related integration efforts
- Partnering with Labor and Employee Relations Center of Excellence Regional Lead and business segment HR business partners on proactively developing HR policies, processes and initiatives that minimize legal risk and help create a positive workplace culture.

To be successful in this role you will:
- Be a qualified lawyer with good experience practicing UK Labor and Employment Law at a multinational company or law firm
- Have excellent analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Have experience in resolving international legal issues across borders and within multiple jurisdictions
- Be a team player capable of working independently on multiple issues in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining emphasis on overall corporate polices and goals
