About the role?

We are on the lookout for a proactive and efficient Legal Support Officer to enhance our Legal Services team. This role is pivotal in supporting our team of lawyers with administrative tasks and development of administration requirements, records and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing administrative support such as copying, collating court bundles and other documents.
  • Maintaining a compliant filing system, including opening and closing files.
  • Scanning and updating Council deed records lists, sealing and binding documents when necessary.
  • Managing diaries and inboxes for the Legal Services team.
  • Coordinating requests for document executions by attaching the Council's seal.
  • Managing and updating the Legal library and archive.
  • Carrying out daily maintenance of Legal Support software/systems.
  • Handling non-contentious enquiries regarding ex-local authority properties and Freedom of Information requests.
  • Overseeing the payment of invoices and maintaining stationery stocks.
  • Providing support with land registration and other Land Registry applications where applicable.
  • Liaising with other service officers, Barristers and Court officials in support of Chartered Legal Executives and Solicitors.
  • The ideal candidate should be able to manage their workload independently, be responsible for Legal records and provide support for a diverse range of tasks. While the role is varied, on-the-job training will be provided as required.

You will need?

  • Educated to A-level or equivalent standard.
  • A high level of IT skills to undertake the inputting of complex data accurately onto different systems
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Proactive/self-motivated
  • 3 years' experience of working in a multi-disciplined environment in a supporting role
