About the role

West Northamptonshire Council is an ambitious unitary authority looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Leisure Facilities Officer to help us deliver high quality leisure services.

The post involves ensuring quality assurance across the Council’s portfolio of leisure centres and making sure contract compliance is adhered too.

The post will include developing sports facility projects, working alongside sports clubs and community organisations to make improvements to existing and developing new sports facilities. The outcome of these projects is to improve the quality of people’s lives by having a positive impact on people’s physical, mental and social wellbeing.

The role is a full-time permanent position based at One Angel Square, Northampton.

What will you be doing?

As a Leisure Facilities Officer, you will be travelling throughout the authority visiting leisure centres, reviewing their performance and representing the Council when meeting leisure operators. You will prepare, organise and lead operational meetings and review aspects such as maintenance, cleanliness, health & safety and overall general delivery, always being prepared for the unexpected.

You will be proactive in arranging meetings / contacting a wide variety of sports organisations with the aim to develop sports facilities and identifying potential funding sources to support sports clubs and community organisations.

About you

We are looking for an individual with a keen eye for detail, working with our leisure centre operators in a positive partnership role. You will also be able to identify opportunities to develop and deliver a wide range of sports facility projects across West Northamptonshire.

You will have a good working knowledge of leisure centre operation and have had experience of working with sports clubs and sport’s National Governing Bodies on facility development.

If you are looking for a challenging and rewarding role, working in a small friendly team environment, we’d like to hear from you.

Interviews to be held week commencing 15 April 2024
