Auroch Digital is a Bristol-based videogame developer with a passion for making games that relate to and deal with real-world issues. We work on original titles, partnerships, and work-for-hire projects – specialising in strategy, retro, porting and, digital tabletop games –including Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, Brewmaster, and Mars Horizon.
Day in the Life of a Level Designer:
As a Level Designer, you will be responsible for delivering the best possible game experience for the projects, features and areas you are working on to schedule and quality. You will contribute to the level design process for a major new title we have in development, creating and building levels, from concept through to polish, for our retro shooter game.
You will understand the role of pacing, narrative, theme and mechanics in creating compelling gameplay experiences, whilst putting the player’s experience at the centre of the way you think about design. You will demonstrate your player-centric design focus by using player feedback to refine the gameplay experience, whilst also taking feedback and direction constructively from Senior Designer, project vision holders and IP owners.
Please note, for this role you will need to be UK based. This role can be done on a remote basis within the UK.
What you need to do this job:
- Professional game industry experience in a level design focused role (excludes time spent in education).
- One or more shipped titles as a Level Designer for an action game.
- Experience with all aspects of level design in Unreal Engine, including Blueprints.
- Some experience creating gameplay encounters e.g. placing enemies, scripting gameplay.
- Experience with level design in Unreal Engine, ideally including Blueprints.
