Job description

Permanent, Part Time job share post 15 hours per week working Thursdays and Fridays.

We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual to join Bristol libraries as a Library Early Years Coordinator within the Reader Engagement Team.

Bristol libraries aim to be at the forefront of enriching lives and supporting children, families & communities. We are determined in enabling everyone to fulfil their potential by nurturing a love of libraries & reading.

You will assist in the development, maintenance and delivery of Children and Young People's services city-wide, leading on services to Early Years children - under 5s.

In this role, you will be responsible for promoting the library service to children and families, in order to encourage library use and develop shared projects.

You will support library colleagues by organising and participating in a programme of children’s events and activities. This will involve liaising with related partners and organisations in the delivery of services, including Early Years settings, schools, other agencies and charities. Most of your time will be spent on public contact and outreach with children and families in areas of deprivation and disadvantage, in some of the most deprived areas of Bristol.

You will be based at Southmead Library, however you will be expected to travel across the entire city for outreach.

You will also lead on & oversee the delivery of the Bookstart scheme in partnership with Booktrust.

You must be willing to work occasional evenings, weekends and public holidays to meet the needs of the service as required and to work in a variety of localities and in different libraries as the service requires.
You must also be willing to travel to any location in the city as required, within the provisions of the Bristol Contract.

If you have a passion for working with Early Years children and families to encourage library use and develop shared projects, we would love to hear from you.
Please visit our Libraries recruitment site for information on the full range of opportunities currently available.
