Directorate: Place
Hours: 34.5 hours a week (Job Share will be considered)
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Riverside Library, Council House, Corporation Street, Derby, DE1 2FS
Riverside is already a busy city centre library and we are looking for someone to continue to build its profile and increase use even further.
We are very much about reading and have a particular focus on supporting literacy amongst children.
Wellbeing is another key theme for the library and we offer an increasing range of events and activities to help people stay well, mentally and physically.
At the heart of the service is a desire to stop people being excluded and one of the ways we do this is to provide free access to the Internet and support to customers who need help using the IT. The successful candidate doesn’t need to be an IT expert but it’s important they must be able to use computers with confidence.
Being organised is vital because you will be responsible for lots of processes and the library space itself.
Ideally you will be a confident public speaker who is able to lead events and talk in front of groups.
The successful candidate will manage a small team of staff and volunteers. Having an understanding of people management and being able to demonstrate emotional intelligence are essential.
They will be comfortable dealing with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You need to be able to negotiate and achieve the best outcome for the library team and our customers.
The successful candidate must be able to work the timetabled hours and be willing to work outside of their timetabled hours occasionally. Saturday working is essential.
Job Share will be considered for this post.
