Job description

We have an opportunity for an Appointed Person to join our client's Lifting Operations team to work on the HS2 project, in the Twyford, Buckinghamshire area. Reporting into the Lifting Manager/Deputy Lifting Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Lifting manager with the coordination of all lifting operations and monitoring that all lift plans are developed, approved, and implemented on site.

Operational Be familiar with the relevant parts of the Align JV Safety, health and Wellbeing management plan and the relevant location specific Construction Phase Health and Safety Plans where the lifting operation is being carried out and CDM regulations apply. Identify different types of lifting equipment, explain their capabilities and limitations for given lifting operations from manufacturers specification manuals. To be able to identify incorrect and poor slinging / lifting practices Calculate weights and centres of gravity for different types of loads, sling sizes and angles. Calculate lifting equipment point loadings and spreader beam or mat types and sizes Identify potential proximity hazards, by observation and from information provided Identify and plan areas, with exclusion zones, for different lifting operations incorporating safe access and egress routes for before, during and after the lifts. Evaluate and explain how environmental factors and the area surrounding the lift zone may affect the planned lifting operation. Implement appropriate communication methods for lifting purposes. Complete a reflective report following a typical lifting operation detailing positive and negative aspects of the lifts. Organise maintenance, inspection, thorough examination and testing of lifting equipment and accessories. Auditing of planning and completion of lifting operations Undertake detailed forensic analysis for root cause of any near misses / incidents.You will have proven experience in lift supervising You will have effective organisation skills, completing and supporting the team with writing, reviewing, supervising, monitoring, and auditing lifting operations.You will have strong IT skills.Working knowledge of legislations, regulations, and codes of practice such as H&S Work Act, Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998.

Qualifications CPCS A61 Appointed Person- Blue Card Competent Operator (essential) A62 Crane Supervisor (desirable) Temporary Works Supervisor/Coordinator (desirable) SMSTS H&S qualification IOSH/NEBOSH (Ideal but not essential)
