Purpose Of Job:
An exciting opportunity for a Lighting Designer to join an award-winning lighting design team, working on a wide range of prestigious and exciting projects nationally. You will work closely with high profile clients and the design team, designing projects from early concept, through to completion, producing high quality, detail focused information.
Applicants will already be working at a Lighting Designer level, with experience in working on a project from inception through to completion. Candidates will preferably be degree and LIA qualified and be able to demonstrate practical experience working within a similar role within a lighting design consultancy.
Whilst this role is based in our Manchester office, the Architectural lighting team work on project nationwide, so some travel may be required.
Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Architectural Lighting team and wider business units with lighting design concepts.
  • Compile and present design concepts to clients, architects, and other members of the project design team.
  • Site visits for commissioning and snagging.
  • Being involved in the day-to-day running of lighting projects, with the view to project manage individual projects.
  • Support and deliver projects nationwide and willing to travel when required.
  • Commit to supporting the strategic business' sustainability policies and the internal environmental programme objectives.

Training Programme Requirements:
  • Commit to goals and objectives of a career development programme including attendance of in-house and external technical and non-technical training.
  • Commit to achieving or maintaining Chartered Engineer status through relevant professional institution.
  • Support the development of team members and undertake the mentoring of members of the engineering team.
  • Familiarize and learn about sustainable low energy initiatives and to share this with other members of your team and wider within the Partnership.
Person Specification:
Knowledge:
Essential
  • Experience in using Dialux.
  • Experience in using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Competent using Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
Desirable
  • Experience in using Revit.
  • Experience in using design rendering programmes.
  • Experience in using Photoshop.
Skills
  • Excellent team working and inter-personal skills.
  • Organizational skill with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Time management and ability to prioritize at busy times.
  • Good numeracy and literacy.
  • Good communication within a team and externally.
  • Able to present and explain the thought processes and engineering processes behind their own design work.
Experience, qualifications, and prospects:
Essential
  • Undergraduate degree in a Design-related subject or LIA qualification.
  • Strong interest in design.
  • Experience of working within an office and/or design team environment.
  • Experience within architectural lighting design.
Desirable
  • Experience in a building services design consultancy.
