An experienced and qualified Lightning Protection Engineer is needed to join the team at this leading company of Specialists in Lightning Protection and Earthing Systems based in Basingstoke on a full-time basis.

You will be responsible for installing, repairing, testing Lightning Protection systems and producing reports.

The work will involve travelling to customer sites nationwide and carrying out the installation, upgrade, and testing of systems in accordance with current regulations BS EN 62305.

About the Company

They provide lightning strike protection to the industrial, commercial and domestic sectors, including historical buildings. They are based in Berkshire and provide Lightning Protection services covering the whole of the UK. They are Safe Contractor Accredited.

Their experienced team has over 30 years of experience in the design, installation, testing and inspection of Lightning Protection systems (LPS). Their design team are fully trained to BS EN 62305, they are Safecontractor accredited, and they carry out all installations in line with the current British Standard regulations BS EN 62305:2012.

About the Role

The applicant must be highly motivated, physically fit and comfortable working at height. They must be willing to work outside on their own or as part of a 2-man team and be prepared for occasional working away from home. Flexible working hours will be required.

If you hold a valid CSCS card and have electrical experience, they would be willing to offer full training for the right candidate to become a fully qualified Lightning Protection Fitter.

Applicants should preferably reside within easy access to the Berkshire area, as they will have to report to the head office in Basingstoke regularly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test and inspection of Lightning Protection Systems
  • Repairing failed Lightning Protection Systems as per reports
  • Install systems as per instruction provided by the client, ensuring that work is carried out in a safe and productive manner
  • Complete detailed on-site reports
  • This role will require working from ladders and at height and on scaffolding and the roof
  • Working from MEWP (cherry picker)
  • Be responsible for the company vehicle and equipment provided

Required Skills:

  • Excellent planning and time management
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Willing to travel predominantly to southern UK; however, there will be travel to northern regions at times
  • A head for heights
  • The ability to follow strict, safe working practices

Required Experience:

  • NVQ Level 2 or NVQ Level 3 Lighting Protection Engineer Qualifications would be ideal
  • Understanding of BS EN 62305 and BS 6651
  • Knowledge of the H&S Act 1978
  • Understanding of construction drawings
  • A full, clean driving licence, valid to drive in the UK
