Linux Platform Engineer

Must haves:

• Deep knowledge of UNIX / Linux internals including Linux Kernel, shell scripting and command line tools
• Expert knowledge and experience of automation and management tools (Ansible, Ansible Tower, Satellite, Gitlab etc)
• Expert experience of Veritas InfoScale Availability.
• VMware vSphere experience.
• Experience with Scripting and Automation (Bash, Python)
• Ability to attain SC Level Clearance.

Plusses / Desirables:

1. PostgreSQL\MongoDB or other Database Knowledge.

2. Experience with any RDBMS solutions (MySQL / PostgreSQL / Oracle).

3. Knowledge of vRealize Automation (VMware Aria Automation).

4. Kubernetes/Containerization Knowledge

Key Deliverables:

1. Build and Test 500~ RHEL 8 VMs utilising automation playbooks.

2. Evaluate, plan, install/upgrade the various Veritas InfoScale Availability instances.

3. Evaluate, upgrade, build Automation tools as needed, such as Ansible Tower, Gitlab and Packer for use in this project.

4. CI/CD of Arqiva approved cloud agnostic RHEL 8 Infrastructure-As-Code images for enterprise-wide use.

5. Work with our 3rd Party vendor to understand the application deployment runbooks and how these can be automated.

6. Produce an automation pipeline strategy to enable application agnostic packer builds to be used for various project application streams.

7. Design and produce automation artifacts such as Ansible playbooks, Python scripts, Git config etc in line with the automation pipeline strategy.

8. Work with internal stakeholders to align with the vRealize Automation IaaS strategy.

9. Technical SME feeding into an Agile Project delivery artifact such as Scrum meetings, HLDs, LLDs and configuration documentation.

10. Early life support (ELS) of the launched application, ensuring a CI/CD process is implemented/followed to correct any defects.

11. Develop and apply engineering standards and procedures and provide technical guidance to external and internal stakeholders
