Summary
We are the public body that looks after England's historic environment. We champion historic places, helping people understand, value and care for them.
Historic England are seeking a Listing and Architectural Investigation Director to join us.
The Listing and Architectural Investigation Director is a high-profile, senior post which is responsible for leading the delivery, practice and quality of Historic England's Listing and Architectural research.
They will ensure Historic England's Listing and Architectural research are directed and developed effectively to ensure that the historic environment is understood, protected and looked after, and can benefit people, places and communities.
What you will be doing
As an important part of the senior leadership of Regions Group and of Historic England's Corporate Leadership Team, the postholder will work closely with the Director of Regions, Regional Directors and their Listing and Partnership teams, along with our Policy and Evidence Group and other key colleagues and teams across the organisation. The postholder will manage Historic England's relationship with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) on designation and Architectural research matters.
We need you to provide professional direction to Historic England's Listing and Architectural Investigation teams across Regions Group and directly manage a central Listing team. They will ensure the listing work plan is delivered by directing a programme of review and reform, ensuring that standards and processes are fit for purpose and lead a process of training, development and continuous improvement.

Excellent leadership and management skills and ability to lead and develop a professional multi-disciplinary team, Ability to develop strategy and translate strategy into clear implementable goals Strong influencing and negotiating skills Able to build strong relationships with stakeholders Ability to communicate persuasively, authoritatively and accessibly with a range of partners internally and externally.
