Live-in Gardener and Housekeeper Duo

We are looking for a Housekeeper and Gardener / Groundsman couple for a beautiful Cotswold country house set on 80 acres between Cirencester and Tetbury. This estate will be used as a part-time residence for a family and we are looking for candidates who have had previous experience working as a couple on a private estate.

You will be working under an Estate / House Manager.

As the Gardener / Groundsman, you will be responsible for keeping the garden in seasonal order and your general duties will include:

- Planting and maintenance of the garden

- Lawn mowing and general lawn maintenance

- Topiary

- Pruning

- Vegetable growing

In addition, the successful candidate will have the ability and willingness to undertake basic maintenance tasks around the property when required. You must be committed, have an eye for detail and a desire to achieve high standards. You must possess good communication skills as well as a positive attitude.

A horticultural qualification would be advantageous, but is not essential, alongside the completion of industry related tickets, such as PA1/PA6 spraying. Applicants must take pride in their work, and demonstrate a passion for horticulture, be comfortable using garden machinery and power tools, while also being an organised and self-motivated individual.

As Housekeeper, your duties will include:

• All aspects of housekeeping, including laundry and ironing to a high standard
• Deep cleaning and routine cleaning
• Working as part of a team and individually at times.
• Replenishment of domestic household supplies
• Ensuring the house is fully stocked when owners are returning from abroad
• Keeping the main residence and guest accommodation immaculate and welcoming at all times.
• If you are a keen cook, there will be the opportunity to preserve seasonal produce

The couple must be willing, friendly and hard working. They must have an eye for detail so that the house and the grounds and garden are maintained to an immaculate level. They must take pride in their work and in the estate and love being part of a beautiful part of the countryside. This is a long-term position where the right, cheerful and hard-working candidates will be treated with kindness, respect and fairness.

The Gardener’s role is full-time. However, the Housekeeper would be c. 3 days a week, but you must be able to commit to more hours when the Principals are in residence which will be during the Summer holidays and on an ad-hoc basis during the rest of the year.

The salary will be dependent on experience. The position comes with a separate cottage and all bills are included.
