Live In Housekeeping/General Assistant

1. General cleaning duties in the house under the supervision of the housekeeper and working with a team of three In Housekeeping.

2.Cleaning will include housekeeping for the bedrooms let out on a B&B basis This will include making beds, cleaning rooms, bathrooms and toilets to a high standard. Also,dusting, polishing and vacuuming in the main part of the house open to the public.

3. Welcoming guests to Traquair and helping to make and serve breakfasts to guests in the morning. Welcoming guests to their rooms if required in afternoon or evening.

4. Occasional evening duties including helping at evening functions and weddings. Waitressing and washing up duties for events taking place in the main house.

Skills Required: You should have some experience in the relevant tasks and experience in hospitality is an advantage, have a very good level of English, enjoy meeting and dealing with the public be trustworthy, responsible and enthusiastic and with a keen eye for detail.

You should be able to work well in a team, take instruction and be organized.

Contract Offered: asap – End October

Pay: £450.00 per week including accommodation in flat in the main house and all bills. No additional charges will be made.

The accommodation is a self contained flat in the main house. Please note you must be able to Live In for this position. This is for use by employees only. No visitors staying overnight permitted unless agreed with the employer. You will be expected to keep the flat clean and tidy.

No smokers only please

You will be expected to work 40 hours per week which will usually include weekends. Over 40hours additional hours will be paid at minimum wage rate applies.

Traquair is in the Scottish Borders about 1 hour South of Edinburgh. It is a rural location and 15 minutes walk from local village of Innerleithen. Buses run regularly to Peebles, 7 miles and Edinburgh. Bicycle is provided.

The flat is very spacious and is used by the owner’s family in the winter months. There is a large shared kitchen, living room, bedrooms and bathroom. Linen/towels provided.

There is a Café on site where you will receive a 50% discount on lunches.

Pay: £11.00-£12.00 per hour
