Live-in-Support Worker - Totnes Area
We are currently looking for a support worker, to provide ‘Live in’ 1 week in 5, help and support to an individual with a spinal injury.
Please note that due to the intimate nature of care carried out in this role, it is restricted to female applicants only; Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
The client is a young lady in her 20’s who sustained a spinal injury as a result of a car accident as a child. She uses a powered wheelchair and transfers independently. She requires support to access activities in the community, but predominantly support is required in the client’s home.
The client is a pet owner; therefore, it is necessity that you like dogs.
Applicants must be over the age of 21 years for car insurance purposes with no more than 3 penalty points on their licence.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
As a minimum, applicants will be expected to have some experience of caring for people with physical disabilities.
NVQ level 2 in health and social care is desirable.
First Aid training will be required and applicants with a recent first aid qualification are desirable.
The ability to use IT systems, such as email, intranet and electronic records is essential.
A full UK driving license is essential, as the support worker will be required to drive the client.
Training, supervision, and support will be provided as required.
An enhanced DBS check is required for this post. You will also be required to register with the DBS Update Service.
Salary:
£1,921.92 per week (subject to tax and NI)
Shifts:
Live-in-care required for a minimum 7-day period once every 5-weeks.
You will be employed directly by the client; however, StanleySmith Case Management oversees all aspects of the client’s care package on her behalf.
