Salary Our private clients based just outside Newbury are seeking a flexible, experienced Cook /Housekeeper to work alongside other household staff.
This is the Principals' main country residence - the family are there most weekends and occasionally during the week.
The Cook/Housekeeper can either be local and live out or live in with accommodation provided on the estate. A driver is required as the property is remote. A car is available for use.
The family has a dog plus several cats and horses.
Please note this is a 1-year initial temp to perm contract and the role is predominantly cooking with housekeeping duties when not busy cooking.
Duties include (but not limited to):
Cooking family friendly, fresh, healthy dishes such as lasagne, fish pie, soups, and salads plus a good Sunday roast. Meals are usually served buffet style. Plan menus, local food shopping etc in conjunction with the House Manager. Plan menus & cook for occasional formal entertaining in conjunction with the House Manager. Liaise with the House Manager to enable a smooth and efficient day to day running of the residence.
Housekeeping duties when required:
Laundry including washing and ironing, care of wardrobes and preparing dry cleaning lists Turning down beds, bed making and servicing of bathrooms. Setting and laying of tables. Taking care of fine furniture, artwork, fabrics, and special finishes. Driving errands as required
Hours/Days: 4 days (Thursday, Friday 9:00AM – 5:00PM, Saturday, Sunday 6:00AM – 1:00PM) These are a guide; a degree of flexibility is expected & required.
Accommodation: Three bed cottages (sole occupancy, not shared) on the estate. A partner and pet’s welcome.
Salary: £35k live in; negotiable live out
To start: immediate/as soon as possible
Unless otherwise specified a minimum of 2 years relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay.
