Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Local Core Neurosurgery Training Rotational Programme (ST1-2)
Are you looking to progress your career in surgery whilst working at a major London teaching hospital? This is an exciting time for you to join Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and to work in our leading surgical and allied surgical teams.
We are recruiting for ST1/2 equivalent core Neurosurgery rotations. Suitable candidates will have completed Foundation Training or equivalent and have a keen career interest in surgery. We are an organisation committed to providing high quality, expert and safe care but also importantly, we value and take our role in medical education and research very seriously.
The programme is managed, quality assured, supported and mentored by our local training programme director and education team. Successful completion of the programme and assessment at the final local ARCP will culminate in the award of a certificate of readiness to enter higher surgical training (CREST) to indicate achievement of the required competencies and experience to enter higher surgical training.
The rotation consists of:-
Year 1, Neurosurgery (4 months)/ITU (4 months)/Neurology (4 months) and Year 2, Neurosurgery (6 months)/ENT (6 months)
NB order of posts in each year of any given rotation may vary (e.g. the rotation will start in either Neurosurgery, Neurology of ITU).
Successful candidates can expect
• Appointment to a 2-year contract with rotating posts mirror allowing stability
• Regular scheduled operating, clinic, acute and elective surgical experience in line with guidance and standards detailed by the Joint Committee for Surgical Training
• A named Educational Supervisor for the duration of the rotation
• 10 days study leave/ year with
• Access to ISCP e-portfolio (Trust funded).
• The Imperial College Department of Surgery and Cancer will offer trainees on this rotation a £7325 Scholarship to support the second year of their MRes Clinical Robotics and AI
• Annual Review Process and support to achieve the requirements of core surgical training including the MRCS examination
• Access to opportunities for quality improvement, research and relevant teaching
Support and mentoring from our local Core Surgery TPD, your AES and specialty consultants with career and competency development and preparation for higher surgical training
Interviews will take place between 11- 29 March and will be conducted via Microsoft Teams
