Candidates are invited to apply for this Liaison Psychiatry post covering maternity leave. The successful candidate will join the Ayrshire and Arran Liaison Psychiatry team, delivering care across acute general hospitals and rehabilitation hospitals in Ayrshire and Arran.
In NHS Ayrshire and Arran, Liaison Psychiatry Services are managed within Adult Mental Health. The post is directed to the over 16 and under 65 age group which currently numbers some 280,000 people. There are good working links with local health psychologists, social workers, general hospital staff, and colleagues within psychiatry.

Applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained within the UK should have evidence of higher Specialist Training leading to CCT in General Adult Psychiatry or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. A college endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry is desirable. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. Applicants should be approved under Section 22 of the Mental Health (Scotland) (Care and Treatment) Act 2003 (or be eligible to become approved).
The terms and conditions of service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004 and are offered on a 10 Programmed Activity basis. Opportunities may exist for Extra Programmed Activities subject to service requirements.
