Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Locum Consultant Orthodontist to take on joint posts between University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.
The positions are for 11PAs and 9.75 PAs on a 12-month basis, with view to extension and future substantive posts. Candidates interested in working part time are also encouraged to apply. The time will be split between the Bristol Dental Hospital and the Musgrove Park Hospital (MPH), in Taunton.
The successful candidate will be employed by UHBW, and hold honorary status with MPH.

The Bristol Dental Hospital Department has strong links with the University of Bristol Dental School, and comprises of a multi-disciplinary team of consultants, therapists and an on-site production laboratory that is undertaking a modernisation process presently with investments in technology. The Taunton department has 2 therapists, 3D scanning and printing with a large onsite lab and excellent technical support. Joint clinics are run with two orthognathic surgeons and two restorative consultants all of whom are engaged and have a great working relationship with the orthodontic team.
The position includes all aspects of Orthodontic work and the opportunity to undertake Cleft Orthodontic work within the South West Cleft Service.
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out:
  • New patient referral clinics
  • Personal treatment of complex clinical cases
  • Supervision of postgraduate clinical treatment sessions
  • Participate within the Hypodontia Service, involving multidisciplinary planning and review clinics in collaboration with the Restorative Department
