British Wool – Selkirk Permanent Vacancy: Machine Operative/Packer
British Wool is looking to recruit a Packer/Warehouse Operative to be based at our Selkirk Depot, with immediate start. The role is to undertake warehouse tasks/processes and packing bales of wool. The successful applicants will be working within a fast-paced warehouse environment, therefore the duties of the role can be of a physically arduous and demanding in nature.
Responsibilities: • Meet targets set for packing of bales • Ensure the baler is used in accordance with H&S and manufacturer guidelines, complete safe operating checks • Operate the WoolTrace computer system in operation whilst packing. • Ensuring good production and workflow with other departments • Transferring wool to various processes within the warehouse via skeps • Any other warehouse task commensurable to the role and depot
IDEALLY you will: • Be self-motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic team player • Have previous warehouse experience • Demonstrate a good work ethic, be conscientious of quality of work output • Excellent timekeeping and attendance • A good level of numeracy and literacy • Good communication/listening skills • Be able to implement instruction/training provided • Current counterbalance forklift truck licence (advantageous but not essential)
Working Hours: Normal working hours are: 8.00am to 16.30pm Monday to Thursday, Friday 8.00am to 15.30pm, 39 hours per week).
