A new vacancy has arisen for a CAM Programmer working within the Production Engineering Group in the Main Machine Shop.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Machine Shop Production Manager, the CAM Programmer will work within our Production Engineering group using Siemens NX CAM for the programming of high precision machined components for our F1 race car and customer programmes. As a vital part of our Production Engineering Team, you’ll be creating CNC programmes for multiple machine types, with a primary focus on 5 axis machining centres and 5 axis mill/turn machines, collaborating closely with machinists to ensure programmes are optimised and efficient, maximising our productivity.
To be successful you will have:
Advanced use of Siemens NX CAM software to create CNC code for 3, 4 & 5 axis machinery, including mill/turn machines.
Advanced use of CGTech Vericut Simulation software to validate safety and accuracy of CNC Programmes.
Proficient use of Siemens NX CAD to produce models and drawings for work holding / fixturing alongside staged models and any accompanying support information required.
Maintain a close relationship with the machining areas by providing clear, effective communication across all key stakeholders throughout the manufacturing process of components.
Collaborating with Inspection to identify and improve G,D & T to aid manufacturing.
Creation of setup instructions and shop floor documentation to aid manufacturing processes.
Having served a recognised apprenticeship and holding the relevant qualifications, it is essential that you possess a strong, proven background in programming 5 Axis CNC machines with the aim of delivering the highest levels of quality and efficiency, utilising timely and cost-effective manufacturing methodology. Extensive experience of CAD/CAM is essential with knowledge of Siemens NX and Vericut being highly advantageous. Previous experience setting and operating 5 axis machine tools would also prove highly advantageous.
You will possess effective communication skills and will have the ability to remain focused and objective under pressure. Resilient and professional with a belief in the concept of continuous improvement and a keen interest in the development and implementation of modern machining technology. Dynamic and capable meeting challenging deadlines within a fast paced environment.
