Job Overview
TE Connectivity's Manufacturing/Production Teams transform raw materials into finished goods and ensure component flow. They perform changeovers and setups according to production schedule, perform quality checks according to established processes and document the results as required by our quality procedures. Every team member is responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area as well as following TE Connectivity's EH&S policies and procedures.
This role will manage the Machine Shop in TE Hastings. The Machine shop consists of ~40 CNC Lathes (sliding and fixed heads) and Mills working on largely small batch sizes (25pcs). The Machine Shop Team is continuing to grow and a key focus will be on improving and developing the knowledge and experience across the shop floor. This role provides the manager the opportunity to make a real impact, with significant reduction in set times and incremental cycle time improvements key business priorities.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Ensure the departmental operations are performed to the correct quality specified on the drawing, routing and any relevant specifications.
- Achieve departmental efficiency and quality targets
- Implementing performance improvements based on data from OEE and other metrics measurements.
- Recommend and deploy process improvements and cost reductions as appropriate in conjunction with the Site Manager and Support Functions.
- Manage priorities, achieving the delivery of all products on time or early.
- Manage departmental activities within financial budgets.
- Reduce set times on machines to improve overall output and increase capacity
- Ensure T.P.M. schedules are applied and managed across the department.
- Head up departmental quality groups and ensure completion PPSR / 8D reports.
- Manage the training and development of personnel within the department.
- Observe Health & Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation.
- Ensure the Company’s personnel policies are adhered to.
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks, which may be requested from time to time.
- Ensure TE Ethics and behaviours are adhered to by all staff.
- Ensure that all KPI data Management is maintained and reported on a daily / weekly / Monthy basis.
- Utilise working knowledge of CNC Machining to ensure process adherence, process improvement and process efficiency.
Qualificaitons and Experience Required:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong Supervisory/Management experience.
- Knowledge of CNC machining experience is required.
