An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Carpenter at Leicester Royal Infirmary to join University Hospitals of Leicester.
Please note the role will require the following qualifications - Recognised Trade Apprenticeship in Carpentry/Joinery and
City& Guilds Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry/Joinery.

The role of the Estates Maintenance Craftsperson (Carpenter) is to
provide a comprehensive Healthcare maintenance service to all
wards and departments within a multidisciplinary environment,
ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures.
To carry out planned and reactive maintenance task to a high
standard that is commensurate with the skills and experience for
the role.
The post holder will be reporting, on a day to day basis, to the
Estates Supervisor and maintenance managers.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The post holder will maintain good communications and working relationships with;
Members of Trust staff at all levels including nursing staff
Estates Supervisors
Estates Managers
All Estates and Facilities staff across disciplines
External Agencies
Emergency services
KEY RESULT AREAS
Undertake all Joinery works to all hospital property, internally and externally, to a high quality and acceptable craft standards and approved methods of working.
Have the ability to interpret technical detailed manuals undertake fault diagnosis and solving of maintenance problems. Communicate technical knowledge to others particularly in the safe use of fixed woodworking machinery and other portable equipment.
Undertake site inspection and surveys determine Plant, access, materials and tools requirements. Report any other defects.
Use and operate the Estates CAFM computerised labour management system. Plan and prioritise own workload. Work within the scheme including completion of all works dockets noting amendments to work and feed back into the system accounting for a work times and monitoring of weekly hours worked on time sheet.
Be conversant with and use all relevant fixed woodworking machinery within the joiners shop in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work act, PUWER Regulations 1998, Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005. COSHH Regulations 2002
Diagnose, repair undertake fault finding and be conversant with specialist items of ironmongery and hardware, including locks digital locks and mortice locks, closers, door and floor springs, and window gear
Undertake Building Planned Preventative Maintenance to include statutory fire door and window checks, and other patient related items bed side lockers etc..
