Maintenance Operative

Our client is a private real estate investment company founded in 1985. Their wide-ranging portfolio includes affordable housing, student accommodation, PRS, hotels, youth hostels, offices, and warehousing across the UK, Netherlands and France. They are now looking to recruit a Maintenance Operative to join their growing team.
The role
The Maintenance Operative's role is to support the Operations team by providing timely repairs and maintenance in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.
Main responsibilities include;
- Provide a responsive general repairs and maintenance service
- Carrying out repairs and general maintenance duties in a productive manner and to a high standard, when necessary liaise with sub-contractors enabling repairs to be carried out quickly and efficiently
- Log, respond and repair any faults across designated properties within the portfolio
- To be available for severe emergencies outside working hours
- Manage the procurement and purchasing of supplies and materials as required to support the repairs and maintenance service
- Carryout general duties including fire alarm tests, emergency lighting test and any other statutory tests as may be required
Person specification
You are a skilled and diligent operative capable of working across a range of trades. You will have an organised, calm, and methodical approach to your work adopting excellent time management skills alongside your repairs and maintenance skill set. You will understand the extent of your skill set and be able to clearly express when you are able or unable to complete a task.
You are happy to do what is required to get any job done on time and to the standard required. You will have a can-do mentality and a willingness to support others to ensure that work is done to the standard required.
Required skills include;
- Competent and skilled tradesperson across a range of disciplines
- Wide understanding and appreciation of H&S regulations and requirements
- Basic electrical skills
- Basic plumbing skills (to include bathroom and kitchen units)
- Painting & decorating skills
- Basic cabinetry & carpentry skills
- Appliance installation
- Computer literate with knowledge of Word & Excel
