We operate Guinness packaging facilities at Marshalls Road in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Runcorn, in North West England, producing canned, bottled and kegged product for Ireland, UK and export markets. Significant investment is underway at both of these locations.

This role is site based at Runcorn which is an 18 Acre site running a 24/7 Operation with 4 rotational crews. It has 2 Bottling, 2 Canning lines and 1 Kegging production line. There are 90+ SKUs with 16 different Beer/Liquid types covering producing on average 23million cases of product per annum.

About the role

The beer packaging engineering team directly lead an annual revenue spend of £3m, with a craft and leadership population of almost 50 engineers. They also manage annual site service contracts in excess of £3m through almost 20 embedded 3rd party engineers. Over the next 3 years they also plan to manage a Cap-Ex spend averaging £6m annually.

As the Maintenance Reliability Lead at the Runcorn packaging site, your role is pivotal for the success of the asset care strategy. You'll take charge of developing maintenance and technical skills across shifts and leading the repair and maintenance budget. Your responsibilities include ensuring effective work order and technical planning, optimizing spare parts planning for planned work, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Your leadership is critical for the efficient operation of the bottling area.

Other key responsibilitiies will include:

  • Ensuring alignment to health & safety, environmental and quality standards and compliance to maintenance regulatory standards at all times.
  • Supporting development and execution of the weekly maintenance schedule to ensure maximum equipment availability
  • Being a coach role model in use of Root Cause Problem Solving and 5Whys to ensure permanent fixes are resolved and delivered.
  • Attending Daily Operational Review meetings, and taking appropriate action to provide support to course correct non-conformance, and to root cause situational problems
  • Coaching operational reams in Asset Care practices to ensure Asset Care capability is developed

About you

For this role you’ll need to have a minimum HND or degree level qualification in electrical, mechanical or chemical/process engineering subject areas.

You’ll have proactive structured problem-solving skills and the ability to problem solve in a timely manner with a strong initiative to execute, and track record of maintenance management - KPI improvement, planning effectiveness and maintenance schedule adherence, CI, backlog, maintenance mix.

Demonstrable knowledge of Root Cause Problem Solving, 5S, Autonomous Maintenance and basic financial awareness of budgeting processes.

It would be beneficial to have good working knowledge of Environmental legislation and standards.
