- $24.00 - 28.00 per hour
- Eligible for annual bonus

Purpose of the position
The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for providing maintenance and repair service to all brands of Container handling equipment at customer location (Norfolk Southern Railyard (Rossville, TN), with a focus on hydraulic, mechanical and electrical diagnosis and repair.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Providing timely diagnosis and repair of intermodal cargo handling equipment (Kalmar and other brand heavy equipment) located in the field at customer sites (Site: Norfolk Southern Railyard Rossville, TN)
- Complete regular preventative maintenance as scheduled
- Ability to use hand, air and electric hand tools; operate forklifts, small cranes and mechanical hoists as needed
- Conduct product training for the customer and dealer technicians to ensure competency
- Evaluate and assist with warranty claims
- Work with Product Engineering to develop solutions to operational problems in the field
- Assist personnel in the field with documentation, report of labor, work orders, and inspections
- Achieve a high level of customer satisfaction
- Communicate with customers regarding the diagnosis and repair problems experienced in the field
What you’ll need to succeed
Education:
- Technical Certification, preferably in mechanical/electrical or related field; highly preferred
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Preference will be given to Veterans and those with advanced technical training and/or Kalmar specific equipment experience. Will also give preference to anyone with Taylor, MiJack and/or Remprex maintenance experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in heavy industrial equipment mechanical & electrical trouble-shooting and equipment repairs including motors, controls, PLC electronic control, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, structural and engine systems.
- Must be able to read blue prints and schematic drawings
- Must feel comfortable and able to work safely at elevated heights, including several stories above the ground
- Should possess a technical aptitude for heavy equipment ; some knowledge of engineering is a plus
Competencies:
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
- Candidates must have the ability to communicate with individuals and/or groups consisting of dealer representatives, customers (end-users) and other technicians or service personnel
- Must demonstrate strong work ethic, dependability and initiative
