Job description

An exciting new position has opened up within Cambridge Airport for an Airport Operations Manager.

As the Airport Operations Manager the post holder will have responsibility for the management of all aerodrome departments, functions, staff, resources equipment and budgets, including compliance with CAA regulations, safety management and change management systems. This role will report directly into the Airport Director.

Job Description:

  • Take responsibility for the safety and daily management of airside operations, reporting to the Airport Director (Accountable Manager)
  • Liaising with the Civil Aviation Authority on aerodrome regulatory and compliance matters
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for all aerodrome operations, providing expert opinion and advice to Executive Board members and Senior Management
  • Provide Aerodrome operational management and oversight to ensure operations are appropriately resourced with suitably qualified and experienced staff who are proactively managed and trained to deliver operational excellence
  • Ensure all Aerodrome Ground Operations; handling, refuelling, departments are fully functional and operational to regulatory standards.
  • Ensure systems and procedures are maintained in accordance with the Airport Safety Management System to support a safe and compliance operation
  • Develop and continuously improve the airport safety management system and safety culture, including safety policies, safety committees, aviation hazard identification and risk assessment, compliance monitoring and safety-related training
  • Ensure all Airport Security and emergency Plans are robust, managed and understood
  • Ensure a robust and compliant change management system
  • Ensure financial management of Aerodrome related budgets, including revenue generation and cost control; leading and supporting improvement initiatives to increase overall company performance levels
  • Ensure a robust manage system of all Aerodrome Suppliers
  • Ensure Airport assets and inventory are effectively managed and maintained with a comprehensive maintenance and capital investment plan
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for all airport related business, providing expert opinion and advice to Executive Board members and Senior Management.
  • Ensure all Airport Security and emergency Plans are robust, managed and understood.
  • Overseeing the safety and operational performance of daily operations at Cambridge City Airport, exercising control through the Airport Duty Manager and Ramp Supervisor
  • Ensuring that a through system of airfield inspections is carried out, recorded and appropriate rectification action is taken
  • Ensuring that local airside operations procedures are in place
  • Ensuring that operational staff members are trained, qualified and competent to carry out their airside operations duties
  • Ensuring that the EGSC Aerodrome Manual is reviewed and updated as required
  • Ensuring systems and procedures are in place for the control of airfield works, which do not adversely impact on aviation safety and continued aircraft operations
  • Ensuring that the aerodrome remains safe for use in adverse weather conditions including low visibility and winter operations, through development and activation of procedures
  • Ensuring that aeronautical information is promulgated in a timely and accurate manner via NOTAMs, the UK AIP and associated publications
  • Ensuring that a procedure exists for physical safeguarding of the aerodrome and overseeing the assessment of on and off airfield development applications
  • Ensuring that aircraft ground handling, servicing and fuel operations are conducted in a safe and compliant manner
  • Identify hazards identified with airport operation's and fuel management, and manage risks to minimise impact of the daily operation.
  • Leading investigations into major airfield safety occurrences
  • Develop and maintain performance measures & KPIs to support performance improvement.
  • Ensure a system and culture of Continuous Improvement exists
  • Support Airport business development initiatives including occasional attendance at trade events in the UK and overseas.
  • Manage the business development and sales aspects related to FOD Boss distributorship

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Proven leadership capability and an ability to manage a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Experience in Airfield and Airport Operations
  • Significant experience of operating in a CAA regulated environment, with demonstrable safety, continuous improvement and change management exposure is essential.
  • A detailed understanding of Safety Management Systems

Education:
