Bristol Waste Company (BWC) makes Bristol’s resident’s lives cleaner, safer and better and recycles more than any other English core city. Wholly-owned by Bristol City Council, BWC delivers exceptional services in waste and recycling, street cleansing and facilities management. As a Teckal company, BWC has created significant added value for its Shareholder, whilst continuing to grow the business, increasing turnover and diversifying into new markets.

As Managing Director, you’ll lead a business of 800 committed colleagues and hold full P&L responsibility for the full range of commercial and operational responsibilities. Leading a senior team, working closely with a refreshed Board and engaging effectively with the Shareholder, partners and stakeholders, you will ensure that the Company’s performance and customer satisfaction continue to improve.

Keen for further diversification and commercial growth, you’ll spearhead our approach to enable us to realise new opportunities which will deliver a financial return and social value. With an eye on the horizon and a grip on the day to day operations, you’ll shape our strategy as well as ensure delivery standards which delight our customers, positioning BWC for continued growth.

Irrespective of sector background, you will bring exceptional leadership skills and experience to catalyse BWC on the next phase of its development. An accomplished relationship manager and people developer, you will set the tone and direction, building from firm foundations, eager to champion the Company as a sustainability exemplar. Sound strategic planning experience, financial and P&L management and good governance capability are expected. In addition, you’ll have the entrepreneurial flair, commercial nous and social purpose which will lead and drive our future success.
