Key Relationships
Internal:
Whilst the postholder has a Corporate role. They will be expected to work closely with the Directors, senior management teams and clinicians across the Trust's Clinical Service Units (CSUs) and the Corporate Directorates. Developing effective and collaborative relationships with all these services in order to support their governance and risk management structures.
As part of the Trust Wide Risk Management and Governance Team, you will be responsible for providing advice to managers and staff on the assessment of person handling and other Manual Handling risks, the development of safe systems of work, risk reduction measures and the monitoring and audit of Manual Handling activities and devices in line with Trust policy.
External:
The person will be required to ensure that the Trust is compliant with current statute and CQC standards requirements and provide statutory bodies, such as the HSE with relevant reports in a timely manner.
Main duties of the job
To act as the Trust Competent Person for all Manual Handling activities.
To take responsibility for knowledge of both NHS systems and statutory duties relating to Manual Handling.
To support the CSU's clinical and non-clinical leads in ensuring that all staff are aware of and conversant with The Trust Manual Handling system, processes and procedures.
To lead the review of the Trust Manual Handling policies, guidance, model risk assessments that reflects current best practice in consultation with the relevant departments.
To evaluate and quality assure the design, development and delivery of the Trusts moving and handling and other ergonomic learning programmes which incorporate evidence-based practice in line with our statutory duty and Trust Policy.
To carry out and/or assist with the production of Manual Handling risk assessments and other ergonomic workplace assessments across the Trust and liaise with the relevant CSU management teams in the development, implementation and monitoring of recommendations.
To investigate and evaluate incidents relating to Manual Handling and provide recommendations and action plans to the relevant CSU management teams.
To develop and implement an effective audit process and procedures that provides a framework for identifying levels of compliance and competence in line with legislative requirements that highlights areas of good and poor practice.
Complete training and trend analysis reports as required by the Head of Risk Health and Safety and EPRR for the Trust, Fire Health and Safety Committee and relevant Groups.
To oversee the specification, supply and maintenance of appropriate Manual Handling equipment in consultation with the relevant departments to facilitate safe Manual Handling.
This job description is not exhaustive and the postholder may be asked to undertake other related duties on an occasional basis at the request of the Director of Governance and Director of Nursing and Patient Experience.

We also offer a £250 bonus for starting this contract this will be paid out to you after 150 hours completed (4 Weeks)
