Manual Machinist - Milling

About us:

Oiltech Bearings manufacturers and repair whitemetal lined bearings for industrial rotating equipment. We supply global blue-chip companies and service companies with made to order, precision mechanical parts which are critical elements of industrial rotating machines. Our production area consists of a specialised foundry combined with a precision machine shop, NDT capabilities and design/engineering of precision parts and assemblies.

The role & responsibilities:

• Interpret 2D drawings and following route card instructions, determining set-up, tooling, references etc to perform each operation.

• Milling of components using a variety of manual milling machines (Bridgeport horizontal and vertical machines) and XZY milling machines which are both CNC and manual.

• Experience with XYZ Protrak is a major advantage, but not essential.

• Bench fitting, de-burring, surface grinding and general machine shop duties

• Opportunities for training in wire cut EDM and NDT inspection.

• Experience with use of manual metrology equipment like verniers and micrometres is essential.

Knowledge and skills:

• A highly motivated and proactive person who can demonstrate successful experience in a similar role.

• Attention to detail and the ability to multitask, prioritising your workload within a fast-paced changing environment, proving a high degree of self-motivation

• Demonstrating a willingness to support others in all areas of the business and train others, learning and adopting best practices.

• Experience with turning is very beneficial - this role is aimed to solve a shortage in milling capacity, but the role can easily develop into a multi-skilled position.

Experience:

You must have experience in a metal cutting, precision engineering, manual milling and ideally basic CNC programming.
