Job description

We are a long established and successful company who are one of Europe's leading designers and manufactures within the engineering sector. We employ over 250 staff and due to our continued growth, we are seeking a Manufacturing and Machine Operator to join our busy and friendly Component Manufacturing Team. The role would suit candidates with an interest in metal work or component manufacturing who take pride in their work and are looking to develop their skills and progress their career within our business by learning new skills. Ideally you will have some experience of working in an engineering workshop, working to drawings and using metal working equipment but we will provide full training on our tools and Machinery. As a key function of the assembly process, you will be responsible for component manufacture, including responsibility for material control, component storage, housekeeping, basic equipment maintenance and fabrication support tasks.

You will be working Monday-Thursday 8.30am-5pm and Friday 8.30am – 2.30pm. The day to day duties of the role are:-

  • Preparation of materials for both stock and subcontract operations
  • Sub-assembly fabrication (drilling, cutting, rolling, grinding, spot welding, etc)
  • Component manufacture duties including operating of press machinery, sheet metal machinery and other metalworking equipment.
  • Completion of works orders and location control
  • Stock location & re-location of all components and raw materials, maintaining traceability & location control at all times
  • Regular stock checking & stock query resolution
  • Basic equipment maintenance
  • Operating in a 5S environment
  • Control of workshop consumables
  • Departmental housekeeping
  • Providing cover to the Housing Production Team when required, including the movement of goods to and from local suppliers
  • Involvement in continuous improvement projects

To be successful you should have good communication skills and a good level of numeracy and be keen to learn and develop and be happy to undertake forklift training.  If you have previous experience working with or reading engineering drawings and experience in metal work and the  equipment used, along with good attention to detail and accuracy it would be beneficial.
